Who are we?
The Association of Youth Ministry Educators (AYME) is a Christian faith-based organization and collegial gathering of professionals committed to developing the next generation of youth ministers.

  • We affirm the tenets of the Christian faith as articulated in the Apostle’s Creed, and pursue unity while honoring the broad expressions of our faith. (Col. 2:2-3; 1 Cor. 12:12; Eph. 4:15-16)
  • Our membership includes teachers, scholars, researchers, and graduate students in the field of youth ministry. This includes those affiliated with institutions of higher education as well as organizations involved in non-formal education such as denominational and para-church organizations.

What do we do?
We gather in order to further the field of youth ministry education through cooperative networking, scholarly contributions, and critical engagement with the varied practices of youth ministry and other disciplines.

Our Statement of Faith

We believe the Bible to be the inspired, authoritative Word of God, a supernaturally given revelation from God Himself, concerning Himself, His being, nature, character, will and purposes; and concerning humanity’s nature, need and duty and destiny. (Ps 19:7-11 & Ps 119:9-11; 2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:20-21).

We believe there is one Triune God, existing in three distinct persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. (Deuteronomy 6:4; Isaiah 44:8b; Romans 3:30; 1 Corinthians 8:4b; 2 Corinthians 13:14; 1 Timothy 1:17; 1 Peter 1:2)

We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ … eternally existent, complete in His humanity, conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, died an innocent death, physically rose from the dead, ascended to the right hand of God the Father and will return in power and glory. (John 1:1-2; 1 Corinthians 15:3-8; Philippians 2:5-6; Colossians 1:15-20)

We believe Humanity was originally created by God in His Image… but was separated from God due to rebellious sin (Gen. 1:24-27; Rom. 3:19-23)

We believe God rescues, by grace, those who repent from their sins and place their faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Only those that are saved by God’s forgiveness are united with Him through regeneration by the Holy Spirit and into the resurrection of life (Rom. 3:21-26; Eph. 2:8-9; Hebrews 9:22, 28)

We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit, by who’s indwelling the believer is empowered for godly living and gifted for effective service. (Matthew 28:19; Acts 1:8; Romans 8:9-11, 15 & 15;13; 1 Corinthians 12)

We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ; and all believers are responsible to maintain this unity by loving one another (John 1:12; 1 Cor. 12-13; Eph. 1:23)
